RUBY ALENE BRIER, 87, went home to Jesus on July 21, 2020. The daughter of Julian Christopher and Dovie Mitchell, she was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on October 28, 1932. Ruby graduated from Draughon's Business College in Dallas, Texas in 1954; that same year she married the love of her life, Henry Clay Brier. Ruby and Henry worked together at his dental practice in Dallas and later in Houston until their retirement in 1987. Ruby had a passion for photography, painting, hunting, and gardening; she loved to travel and had a keen eye for fashion. Most of all she loved her family. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren will never be forgotten and she will be dearly missed by family and friends alike. Ruby is survived by her grandchildren John Brier and Juliana Christopher Brier, and her brother Billy Joe Christopher. She is preceded in death by her sons Byron Shawn Brier and Vaughn Howard Brier, and her siblings Buford Christopher, Mitchell Christopher, Howard Christopher, Sybil Scarborough, and Ralph Christopher. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday, July 30 from 5-7 p.m. at McNutt Funeral Home of Lufkin, and interment on Friday, July 31 at 2 p.m. at Alazan Cemetery in Nacogdoches. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
