Alice “Tris” Tristann Trotter, known affectionately as Ginger to her friends and family, passed away on August 29, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on December 2, 1955, in Fort Worth, TX, Ginger’s life was a tapestry of love, creativity, and service, woven with the threads of kindness and intelligence.
Ginger is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Trotter, and their loving daughter, Chelsea Trotter. Her legacy continues through her mother, Alice Owens, sister, Becky Bolling, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember her nurturing presence. Ginger is preceded in death by her brother, Don Owens Jr., and father, Don Owens Sr., who instilled in her the values of family and community that she upheld throughout her life.
Ginger was a proud alumna of The University of Texas at Arlington, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Ginger’s passion for art and creativity led her to own and operate a successful framing and art gallery in Irving, TX. Her entrepreneurial spirit was matched by a deep commitment to helping others, as evident by her impactful work as a career counselor in both Irving and Lufkin. Ginger also made her mark in the hospitality industry as the Sales and Marketing Director for multiple hotels in Lufkin, where her charm and savvy were instrumental to their success.
Her involvement with the Lufkin Chamber of Commerce and the Angelina Arts Alliance, as well as her contributions to the Temple Theatre, demonstrated Ginger’s enduring commitment to fostering the arts and culture in her community. She believed that art was not just a profession, but a way of life that could enrich and transform lives.
Ginger’s personal interests were as vibrant as her professional life. She was happiest when tending her garden, especially her roses, which she grew with the same care and attention she gave to all her endeavors. Her husband often found her working diligently in the yard with her own weed eater, a testament to her independent spirit and love of nature. Ginger’s pets, Rocket, Kiki and Bitsy, were her constant companions, and she provided them with a home filled with as much love and warmth as she gave her human family.
Those who knew Ginger will remember her as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her intelligence shone through in every conversation, her kindness in every interaction, and her love in every hug. Her laughter and radiant smile could light up a room, and her wisdom and guidance were a source of strength for those who sought her counsel.
Ginger’s life was one of purpose and joy, dedicated to enriching her family, friends, and community. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she has left on the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. Ginger’s spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the beauty of her roses will continue to bloom year after year. Her passing in Houston due to loss of blood has left a void that can never be filled, but the beauty of her life will remain a beacon of inspiration for generations to come, and her memory will be cherished forever by those who loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 6, at the Temple Theatre on the Angelina College campus, (3500 S First St, Lufkin, TX 75901).
