Alice Sue “Nonnie” Gaut

April 30, 1943 – August 8, 2023

Alice Sue Gaut “Nonnie”, a radiant beacon of love and generosity, departed from this mortal sphere on the 8th day of August 2023, in Houston, Texas. Born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 30, 1943, to her loving parents Margaret McGee and Douglas Hoskins, "Nonnie" graced the world with her vivacious spirit for a full 80 years. Her departure, though sudden, was peaceful, and has left her family in deep sorrow.

Nonnie now resides in the heavens, joining her parents, her sons-in-law Layne Tinsley and David Gotcher, her lifelong friend Carol Law, her daughters Karen Ferguson-Gotcher and Kim Willett, her son Kevin Michael Gaut, and her cherished great-grandson Michael Alan Webster Jr. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Debbie Tinsley, and Douglas Alan Ferguson with his wife Lisa; her grandchildren: Michael Alan Webster (her pride and joy) & his 5 daughters, Kelly Tinsley and her 3 children, Michelle Tinsley and her 7 children. Patty Finnerty and her 4 children. Timothy Ferguson with Bianca Fields and their 3 children, Matthew Gotcher, Jeanette Shipp and her 4 children, Crystal Parker and her 5 children, Shawn Willett and his child, Michael Painter and his 3 children, Glenn Willett Jr and his 2 children, Dawnyale Littlejohn and her 4 children and a host of others who were blessed to be considered family by her boundless heart.

Nonnie was a woman of extraordinary spirit, embracing life’s challenges with a smile that could illuminate the darkest corners. Her heart was as vast as the Oklahoma plains, and her love as deep as the Texas skies and her kindness touched countless lives. She lived her life with gusto, inspiring others to do the same. When we are called to join our Lord and Savior, we can take comfort in the knowledge that Nonnie will be there to welcome us with open arms. For as it is written in 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”

A service in honor of Nonnie’s life will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church, in Porter, Texas on August 28th at 6 pm.
