Ava Mae Johnson

March 6, 1936 — November 27, 2024

Born March 6, 1936 on the Campbell Ranch in Motley county Texas. To Avo West McGowen and A.M. Milt McGowen.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, J.L.Johnson, (Junior) and her sons, Andy Milton Johnson wife Susan children Cory Milton Johnson, wife Kelly, sons Deaton and Parker ;Angi Tindalland friend Wes Raines, her children, Jacob Glenn Tindall and wife Chyian; and Drew Tindall U.S.Marine in Twenty Nine Palms, Ca.; Jessica Nolan husband Roy and their children Daniel Espinoza, and Lilly Nolan and Olivia Nolan. Son Terry Neil Johnson wife Manonne and their children, Samantha Johnson, Chance Johnson, wife Shelby and their children Jack, Jordan and Judd Johnson; Seth Johnson.
Preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Tyler Johnson and a great grandson Luis Espinoza.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Ebah Basham and children; brother in law, Weldon Reed and children, brother A.M. Butch McGowen, wife Sue and children.
Preceded in death by sister, Vernell Reed and brother in law Charles Basham.
Survived by countless nephews, nieces, cousins and friends by the bushel.
Ava graduated Magna Cum Laude and valedictorian from Floyd New Mexico High School. She married Jr and they farmed in Floyd county. She fed the hands every day and worked hard.
They moved to Lufkin TX in 1964 and soon there after she was office manager for TGT construction which later become Thomas and Thompson construction. She was meticulous in her work and ran a really tight ship. She was a member of LifePoint church, but through all her adult life she taught Sunday School classes at the churches she belonged to.
