Belinda Jayne Lasswell, 73, of Lufkin, Tx passed from this Earth on December 4, 2024 after she won her battle over cancer and began life eternal in Heaven.
Belinda was born on September 12, 1951 to John and Valeria Oaks in Lufkin, Tx. Belinda graduated from Hudson High School in 1970. She was married to Phillip Lasswell of Lufkin for 44 years.
Belinda had a servant's heart. She loved her family and loved to help, advise, cook, and spend as much time with them as possible. She loved children and taught at Brandon Elementary School in Lufkin for many years. She later served as Church Secretary at Herty Baptist Church for 29 years.
Belinda loved decorating her home, reading, Gospel music, and studying the Bible in her spare time. She never passed up an opportunity to tell someone about Jesus or to share the Gospel with anyone who would listen. She taught Sunday School for many years and led a Women's Bible Study Group. She attended Timbercreek Church.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip Lasswell, and their three children, Teresa Jane Trammell and husband Greg, David Lynn Lasswell, and Gary Michael Hornbuckle. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Kyle Trammell, Brittny Trammell and fiancé Daniel Fisher, Damon Hornbuckle, Lane Lasswell and Alex Prather. She also leaves behind two perfect great-grandchildren, Arthur Hornbuckle and SkyLynn Pool. She is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda Oaks Donaldson and husband Sonny; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Katie Lasswell; other relatives and a host of friends.
Those waiting in Heaven for her arrival were her parents John and Valeria Oaks, mother-in-law and father-in-law, James Albert and Clara Mae Lasswell, her grandparents, George and Nora Coffey, Bill and Lottie Oaks, and many other relatives and friends.
The family is thankful for the compassionate and loving care shown to Belinda by the nurses and aides at Affinity Hospice who worked daily to keep her comfortable.
