Betty Durham Russaw

Our beautiful, fearless and tenacious fighter, Betty Durham-Russaw entered into eternal rest on Tuesday April 2, 2024 at the age of 84 in Beaumont, Texas. She was born on September 23, 1939 in Woodville, Texas to Falbia and Percell Durham and was one of six children. She is preceded in her journey by her husband Earl Russaw, beloved parents Falbia and Percell Durham, her cherished son William "Kenny" Wood, her siblings Cliett Durham, Billie Geelan, Herbert Durham, Evelyn Watson and her nephew, Donald Ray Burke.

She was a woman of great faith who truly loved the Lord. She loved attending church when she could, she enjoyed going to flea markets, shopping and loved Casa Ole where you could find her almost every week for the last thirty years.

Bet, Momma and Memaw, as she is affectionately known by her children Karl Wood, Karen Martin, Kathy Wood and Amanda Wood; her last surviving brother, Clarence “Bull” Durham; host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and her new great, great grandson may say farewell for now but do understand this is not forever. For we will meet again.

She knew her healing was near because she knew Revelation 21:4: “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

She has been welcomed into the arms of our Lord, to dwell in the house of the Almighty forever. Her journey on this earth has ended, but her story and legacy, lives on within each of us.
