Betty Faye Matthys

Betty Faye (Collins) Matthys, age 76 entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 18, 2019 in Lufkin, Texas. She was born on January 23, 1943 in Barney, Georgia to parents Columbus Bryant Collins and Clara Margaret Lashely Collins. Betty spent her life as a bookkeeper and former business owner of a quaint down home bed and breakfast in Hawkinsville, Georgia where she was known for her incredible cooking skills and generous hospitality. She was a country girl who loved to fish and dance to classic country music. Betty was a Georgia girl with a heart as big as Texas and will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilbert ‘Doc’ Matthys, her parents, Columbus and Clara Collins, her brother, James Collins and sister, Francis Harrell. Survived by her son, Robert Moore and wife Shannon of Lufkin, Texas, a daughter, Belinda Aultman of Hawkinsville, Georgia, a brother, Jerry Collins and wife Kay of Eastman, Georgia, grandchildren, Rachel Moore, Lindsey Moore and Daniel Moore, great-grandchild, Brianna Bergland and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 11:00am for visitation and a funeral service to follow beginning at 12:00pm in the Chapel of McNutt Funeral Home located at 400 South First Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901 with Pat Jones officiating. Burial will follow with internment at the Gann Cemetery in Pollok, Texas. Arrangements have been entrusted to McNutt Funeral Home.
