Charles “Pete” John Lieby, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and friend to everyone, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2020, in Lufkin, Texas. Charles was born September 15, 1949, in Syracuse, New York. He spent most of his life as a Texas resident. Charles served one tour of duty in Vietnam as a Private First Class in the US Army, and received the Purple Heart commendation. “Charlie”, as he was affectionately known to coworkers, retired from Sunoco Pipeline in Nederland in 2010, after more than thirty years of service. Charles was a lifelong nature enthusiast and loved spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and was always quick to lend a hand to someone in need. Charles is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carol, as well as his children: Aimeé Lieby and her husband, Lane Weatherford, Regina Lieby and her wife, Stephanie Allen, Peggy Hebert, Debbie Allport and her husband, Greg, Gwen Whitaker, and Troy Hebert; his sisters Betsy Faul, Connie Stephenson, and Anne Curphey; his brother, Jerry Lieby; as well as numerous grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, and nephews. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Albert Lieby, and Anne and Paul Michell, as well as his brother, Tim Lieby. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Friday, October 23, 2020, at noon at the Temple of God, 206 Yaupon Street, in Pineland.
