Clayton A. Busby

March 5, 1928 — July 31, 2020

Clayton A. Busby went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Memorial Hospital. He was ill a short time. He was 92 years old. Clayton was born in New Willard, Texas on March 5, 1928 to George and Bertie Busby. Clayton lived in Diboll, Texas in the same house for 79 years. He worked for Temple Industries for 40 years at the old sawmill. Clayton was of the Baptist faith. He always had a smile at everyone he met. He was a real friend that would help anyone in need. Everywhere he went Clayton always saw someone he knew. His favorite past time was playing Forty-Two. He was so good he could almost tell you what was in your hand. He loved watching t.v.. His favorite shows and movies were Clint Eastwood and John Wayne westerns, Bonanza, Gunsmoke and many others. Claytons favorite place was the Golden Corral Restaurant with Jason Wade, Ms. Lee, Be Be, Hilda plus all the Golden Girls and staff. He met a lot of friends and made new ones. Clayton served in the US Army. He loved gardening and cooking. Clayton loved going to the indoor picnics and Christmas dinners at the Diboll Civic Center. All the years he only missed three times. He loved baseball. Especially the Little League World Series. He loved family gatherings. Above all, Clayton was a very humble man. Clayton was a wonderful son, a great brother and uncle and a second father to all of us. Oh yes, one last thing Clayton loved was dipping old Levi Garrett snuff. Clayton is survived by sisters Georgia Mae Cury and Ruth Busby Durham from Lufkin, Texas. Special nieces and nephews but also care takers Elizabeth Ann and Tommy Hendry, Terrie and John Tatum plus many other nieces and nephews. Special friends Sam Glass and Alvin Anderson. He is preceded in death by his brothers Doyle Leonard & D.L. from Diboll, sisters Marie from Diboll, and Sarah Beth Reynolds from Lufkin. His great motto was “Give out but don’t give up.” Clayton will be missed by all that knew him. He fought the good fight.
