Donald was born July 30, 1948 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Wilbert Louis Grote and Mary Etta (Brakeen)
Grote. He died in a specialty hospital in Conroe, Texas due to pulmunary failure. He is survived by his
wife, Pamela (Cox) Grote, daughter, Justina Shoffitt, granddaughter Lyla Shoffitt, brother David Grote
and wife, Susan of San Francisco, California, Sister in law Fanny Grote of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania,
Nephew Daniel Grote and wife Kathy of Annapolis, Maryland, Great niece Elizabeth of Annapolis,
Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Grote and nephew Joshua Grote.
He played viola in band while in school. He graduated from Rider High School in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He served his country as a cook in the US Navy. He was a plank owner, which means he was on the
original crew of the USS John F. Kennedy.
After serving his country which he was very proud of he graduated from Texas State Technical Institute.
Most of his working years were spent as a Semi truck mechanic.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, knives and coins. He
enjoyed watching sports on TV such as baseball, football, and Nascar.
