Doris Jackson

December 13, 1935 — February 13, 2025

Lufkin

Doris was born on December 13, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey to Lena Weber Bronstein and Benjaman Bronstein. She grew up and attended schools in New Jersey and California before settling in Texas.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was so proud of her family. We all referred to her as "Grandma" and she loved it! In fact, the grandkids lovingly referred to her as "Grandma Nut" because of her silly stories and antics.

She never met a stranger. She always had a beautiful smile and was known for her quick wit and sense of humor that would bring a smile to your face. Grandma always had a story to tell and just like her beloved Jay; sometimes the truth of the story was questionable.

Doris loved visiting with family and friends; especially while drinking a good cup of coffee. Her door and heart were always open. She also loved being a homemaker and taking care of her home. She loved the outdoors - even pulling weeds! Doris loved playing cards, dominoes and board games. She would call her winning a skill, but those of us who lost to her called it luck. Doris always enjoyed going shopping, we think she considered it a sport! She was an animal lover; especially puppies and kittens.

Everyone enjoyed her delicious spaghetti and meatballs! It was always a family favorite.

Doris and Jay loved RV traveling with their friends here in Lufkin. They traveled any time they were given an opportunity. Another passion she and Jay shared was their love of music; most often singing along and dancing to the tune.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Jay Jackson, Son Aaron Jackson, Granddaughter Kourtney Ketchersid and Granddaughter Kaneil Morrison.

She leaves behind her daughters, Deborah Brantley and husband Don, Laura Ketchersid and husband Mark; and Mona Jackson Burgess. Grandchildren: Zac Dubberly and wife Nikki, Shan Dubberly and wife Sabrina, Kimberly Ketchersid and Eric Cullen, Austin Ketchersid and wife Audriana, Matt Brantley and wife Lorrie; Chris Brantley and wife Carrie and Robert Wells.

She also leaves behind 14 Great Grandchildren

Special Family Members: Gloria and husband Kevin and Diane Arnold
