Dorothy Marie Guerrero

July 31, 1953 — August 11, 2020

Dorothy Marie Sims Guerrero, 67, received her wings on August 11, 2020. The daughter of William (Richard) Shepherd Sims and Dorothy Mae Carroll, she was born in Lufkin, Texas on July 31, 1953. Dorothy Marie was a proud homemaker and was proud of her Cherokee, Blackfoot and Sioux heritage. As her sister Paula Barragan would say “She has a way of making you smile even on your bad days.” She would take time to show anyone how to make her delicious recipes, even though there was more playing than cooking. Dorothy Marie enjoyed cooking, drinking coffee, reading her bible, crocheting, her dogs, riding horses, and watching Jersey Shore. Most of all she loved her family. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren will never be forgotten and she will be dearly missed by family and friends alike. Dorothy Marie Sims Guerrero is survived by her children Rebecca Sims, Joseph Wayne Sims Stevens, Elizabeth Guerrero, Esther Hernandez married to Eduardo Hernandez, and Maria Euresti married to David Martinez. Her Grandchildren Jonathon Jesus Guerrero engaged to Emma Marie Ancira, Briana Stevens-Tallant married to Brian Tallant, Enrique Euresti, Veronica Alejandra Hernandez married to Jose Humberto Zapata Jr, Angelica Cruz Martinez, Gerardo Hernandez, Julian Diego Martinez and Joseph Stevens. Great grandchildren Zaeden Stevens, Brenton Tallant, Maicee Tallant, Paislee Tallant, Rosalyn Grace Martinez, Eli Castellanos Caldera and unborn child Guerrero. Siblings George Edward Sims, Ruby Faye Kennidy, Annie E. Yates, Jimmy Dean Sims, William Shepherd Sims, Paula Ann Barragan, and Paul Dan Sims and several loved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Ruth Carmel Sims, unborn great grandchild Baby Z and her parents William (Richard) Shepherd Sims and Dorothy Mae Carroll Sims.
