Felicia Rena Segrest, a radiant beacon of optimism, love, and courage, was called home to the Lord on July 14, 2023. Born on November 4, 1994, in the quaint town of Nacogdoches, Texas, Felicia was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of faith. She returned to her heavenly Father in Houston, Texas, after a long and brave battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
Felicia was a beloved daughter of Michael Segrest and Ivanell Brown Segrest. She was a cherished sister to Dusty and Shalisha Whittemore and Allen Segrest and Savannah McGaughy, who admired her steadfast spirit and unwavering courage. Felicia was a devoted mother to her two sons, Jayden Fredregill and Woodrow Simons, who were the center of her universe. She was also a doting aunt to Makayla, Garsyn, Bella, Rayelynn, Blake, and Journey, whose lives were enriched by her boundless love and joy. Her love story with her fiancé, John Simons, was a testament to the power of love and commitment.
Felicia's journey on earth was marked by resilience and determination. A proud graduate of Huntington High School, she was a lifelong learner, always curious and eager to explore the world around her. She had a deep appreciation for the simple things in life. Her laughter was infectious, her spirit was indomitable, and her heart was made of pure gold.
Felicia had a deep love for the great outdoors. She found solace in the whisper of the wind, the rustling of leaves, and the warmth of the sun on her face. She loved music, the universal language of the soul, and found joy in sharing her favorite songs with those she loved. Felicia was a social butterfly, always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, and a comforting shoulder for her friends. She was a beacon of hope and a source of strength to all who were blessed to know her.
Felicia lived her life with grace, courage, and an unwavering faith in the Lord. Even in the face of adversity, she held onto her faith, often quoting her favorite scripture, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). She embodied the essence of these words, always looking to the future with hope and positivity.
Felicia Rena Segrest was a woman of extraordinary strength and unyielding faith. She was a devoted mother, a loving daughter, a cherished sister, a loyal friend, and a beacon of hope to all. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of the human spirit, and the hope that comes from unwavering faith. We find comfort in knowing that she is now in the arms of the Lord, free from pain, and dancing in heaven.
In the words of the great Reverend Billy Graham, "Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God." We know this to be true for our beloved Felicia. Her physical presence may be gone, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. She has merely changed her address, and she is now basking in the presence of God. We will always remember Felicia Rena Segrest, a woman of faith, love, and courage, and we will carry her spirit in our hearts until we meet again.
