James Mikel Daugherty

Mr. James Mikel Daugherty, 50, of Lufkin, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Herrman Merial Hospital in Houston surrounded in love by family. Mr. Daugherty passed away from complications of a home invasion robbery and aggravated assault that took place on December 6, 2021. James was born on May 5, 1971, the fifth child of Virginia and James Daugherty. Born in Center, Texas, he attended Woden School, where he played baseball in his younger years. He worked for many years in the poultry industry. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and western movies. James was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Jones Daugherty and James Daugherty. Left to cherish his memories are his brothers, Joe (Melanie) Daugherty, of Etoile, Dennis (Melissa) Daughtery, of Lufkin; sisters, Theresa (Tim) Miles, of Nacogdoches, Lisa (Greg) Shephard, of Texas City and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. During this time, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations for the unexpected funeral costs and final expenses.
