Joe W. Vest was born in Orland, California, and died Friday, March 5th, 2021. Mr. Vest had resided in Lufkin, TX most of his life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly. Joe was a Distributor for Kirby Company for 30 + years and enjoyed the door-to-door sales of his work. He loved playing cards, Spades, to be exact, with his sons and grandsons. He was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and in his younger years was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing the drums. Mr. Vest also enjoyed spending time outdoors while tending to his garden. Every year during Christmas, Joe would always put on a Santa Claus hat and pass out gifts to his family, which all the kids loved. Survivors include daughters, Jerri Vinci of Livingston, Mickey Riddle of Lufkin, Julia Gilmore of Pollok; son, Jim Vest of Lufkin; grandchildren, Monica Hardy and husband James of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Bobbie Wideman, Jamie Wideman, both of Lufkin, Jackie Wideman of Livingston, Clay Gilmore, Lindsay Wells and Tyson, both of Pollok, Travis Vest of Livingston, Meagan Vest and Anthony of San Antonio, Maci Vest of Arizona; great-grandson, Bobbie Wideman, Jr. and Morgan of Livingston, as well as an additional 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Genie Vest, and son, John Vest. Flowers and any monetary donations can be made by sending to McNutt Funeral Home at 400 S.
