Kim “Kimbo” Owen Harper, 59, of Lufkin was born on June 6, 1962, to the late William and Willene (Peacock) Harper. He passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home on May 16, 2022. Graveside services will be held on Friday May 20, 2022 at 10:00 am in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Kim was a loving husband, father, pappy, and friend. He was comical and witty; a jokester who could make the whole room laugh. Kim was a dedicated employee with FedEx Freight for almost two decades and made many friends during his tenure there. He was a spiritual warrior who loved the Lord and a light in the darkness; he had faith that could move mountains. Kim was a gifted singer and songwriter, but an even better dancer. His faith will serve as a part of his legacy for years to come. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Kim leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Tracey; daughter, Rachael Simms and husband, Jesse; his precious granddaughter, Salaira; brother, Michael Harper and wife, Melissa; two sisters: Charlene Hughes and husband, Cliff; Malinda Duncan and husband, Guy; sister-in-law, Georgana Harper; his brother, “John Boy”; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Tyler Harper; his parents; brother, Greg Harper; as well as brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Rita Harper. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Pinnamaneni, Kim Owen, RN and Social Worker, Evette as well as the staff at Harbor Hospice for the peace and comfort their team offered during such a difficult time. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Kim’s Fedex Freight co-workers and customers as well as all of his family and friends for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this time. Your love has not gone unnoticed.
