Larry Franklin Penn Sr., aged 77, from Nacogdoches, TX, passed away on the evening of March 14, 2024. He was born on August 13, 1946, in Bristow, OK, to Frank and Norma (Mattox) Penn. Larry graduated from Bristow High School in 1964.
In 1967, Larry married Mabel (Adams) Penn from Topeka, KS, whom he referred to as the love of his life. They had two children and spent the last 57 years creating memories together. They moved to Baytown, TX, in 1982, where Larry worked in the chemical manufacturing industry for 30 years before retiring. He then pursued his dream of living in the countryside.
Mr. Penn served in the United States military during the Vietnam War, with honorable service in the U.S. Air Force (1964-1968) and the U.S. Army (1974-1978). He was proud of his Cherokee Nation heritage and enjoyed hunting and fishing, particularly deer hunting on his property. In his later years, he cherished spending time with his family, sharing stories and laughter.
Larry is survived by his wife Mabel Penn, son Larry Penn and wife Paula, daughter Michelle (Penn) Mozes, sister Nancy (Danny) Blosch, brothers Danny (Kathy) Penn and Keith (Teresa) Penn, sister-in-laws Murel (Steve) Brandenburgh and Betty Domer, grandchildren Justin (Kass) Penn, Nicole (Marcus) Helm, Emilee (Jose) Pablo, and Michael (Paige) Tanner, as well as eight great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, brother-in-law Gary Domer, and sister Jeanette Poston.
