In the quiet of a summer’s day, Marion ‘Marty’ Shaw, Jr. passed away, leaving behind a world that was richer for his presence. Born in Houston, Texas, on a day when the world was still young, he was the son of Marion Shaw, Sr. and Alice Faye Romine. In life, he was known for his exceptional kindness, his creative spirit, and his talent for writing.
Marty’s love for the written word led him to create his own editing service, PickyCat editing services, where he helped others realize their own potential. He was also a bus driver for Trinity ISD, where he touched the lives of countless students. But it was in his love for reading that Marty found his true calling. His passion for literature was evident in every word and deed, and he was happiest when he was lost in the pages of a good book.
But Marty was more than just a lover of books. He was a loving husband to Jennifer Shaw and a proud father to his son Zachary Carter Barner. He is also survived by his sister, Denise Romine Tucker, brother, Clayton Willis Shaw, Sisters, Darla Jean May, Dianna Kaylynn Shaw, and Zana Katherine Shaw, his mother-in-law, Martha Nell Russell, step-mother, Dianna Sue Shaw, uncle, Gary Bryant and a host of many relatives and friends.
Marty’s life was not without its challenges, but he never let them break his spirit. He was a free-spirited man with a yearning to travel, and he encouraged those around him to live life to the fullest. Marty’s kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
As the sun sets on this world, we bid farewell to a man who was more than just a husband, a father, a brother, and a friend. We bid farewell to a man who was a beacon of light in a world that can be dark and unforgiving. Marty Shaw Jr., you will be missed, but your legacy will live on in the countless lives you touched.
