Reverend Marion David Morris, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025. Born on July 6, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, he was the youngest of eight children to Thelma Marguerite Townsend and Raymond Bruce Morris, who are all now in Glory.
Marion was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family with every fiber of his being. He left behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
A man of faith and service, Marion followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Reverend Marion D.Townsend, the first elected General Superintendent of the Pentecostal Church of God. His commitment to the church was evident in his roles as West Texas Pentecostal Young People's Association (PYPA) President and later District Superintendent, followed by serving as the National PYPA President in the General Office in Joplin, Missouri. His passion for ministry shined through his teaching at church camps, youth rallies, conventions, and national conferences, where he delivered illustrated sermons that inspired countless individuals. Many turned their lives to the Lord and are now in ministry themselves.
In 1990, Marion founded "HOBO" (Helping Our Brothers Out), an initiative that evolved into what is known today as the Austin Resource Center (ARC) in downtown Austin—a testament to his unwavering dedication to helping those in need. Additionally, he co-founded The Father's House in Arkansas, where many lives continue to be transformed today.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 8, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Foundation Christian Ministries, 177 Union Chapel Road East, Bastrop, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to The Father's House, P.O. Box 129, Bismark, AR, to honor Marion's legacy of service and love for others.
