Mary Ann Hubbard, a beacon of love and kindness, has completed her remarkable journey on earth. Born on November 19, 1934, in the heart of Central, a Community of Lufkin, Texas. Mary Ann's story came full circle as she peacefully passed away in the same cherished town on August 14, 2024. Her life was a testament to the power of positivity, and her legacy is etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
Graduating as valedictorian from Central High School, Mary Ann's early years were marked by her spirited involvement as a cheerleader and her passion for basketball—an enthusiasm that never waned. She carried this same dedication and excellence into her professional life, first as a payroll clerk at Sullivan Packing Company and then rising to the esteemed position of Head Teller at Lufkin National Bank. Her work ethic and generosity of spirit were her trademarks, leaving an indelible impact on her colleagues and community. Mary Ann's life was rich with love, as she shared 70 beautiful years with her husband, Thomas Hubbard. Together, they created a family legacy through their three daughters, Linda Murdoch, Cheri Hubbard, and Michele Ray, and her husband Malcolm. Mary Ann's joy multiplied with the arrival of her four grandchildren—Derek Ray and his wife Cara, Destini Rios and her husband Francisco, John Watson, and Ashley Murphy and her fiancé Trance Fenner—and further blossomed with the birth of her three great-grandchildren, Milo Hanson, Slade Rios, and Ryder Fenner. Each of these precious lives was touched by Mary Ann's unwavering love and kindness. Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. A fervent reader and an avid shopper, Mary Ann's zest for life was contagious. Traveling brought her immense pleasure, allowing her to explore and embrace the world's beauty. Yet, it was the sports arena that truly captured her heart, with the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks holding a special place in her affections. Whether cheering from the stands or the comfort of her home, her spirit was a force of encouragement for her favorite teams. Mary Ann embodied the essence of a loving, kind, and generous soul. Her presence was a warm embrace to those in need and a guiding light for the paths she crossed. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched—they must be felt with the heart." Mary Ann not only felt with her heart but also gave from it freely, inspiring others to do the same. As we celebrate her life, we are reminded that the measure of a person is not in the years they lived, but in the lives they've touched. Mary Ann Hubbard touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of positivity and love that will echo through generations. Her story does not end with her passing but continues in the lives of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have been part of her journey.
Today, we honor Mary Ann, not with sorrow, but with the joy she instilled in us, the wisdom she imparted, and the memories we will forever cherish. Her life was a beautiful journey of love, compassion, and unwavering kindness—a true inspiration to us all. Let us carry forward the light she so generously shared with the world, for in doing so, her spirit will continue to shine brightly. Mary Ann Hubbard, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will forever inspire us to live with love and generosity in our hearts.
