Mary Catheryn Hall, known affectionately by friends and family as Catheryn, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on July 27, 1952, in Houston, Texas. Catheryn's final days were spent surrounded by the love and warmth of her family in Lufkin, Texas.
Catheryn's spirit, characterized by her unwavering strength and joy for life, leaves a luminous trail in the lives of those she touched. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Wayne Hall; her sister, Brenda Kay Irvin; her parents, Tommy Murphy Jr and Barbara “June” Walters; her grandparents, William and Katherine Bridges, Tommy Murphy Sr and Mae Anderson; and numerous aunts and uncles. Her legacy continues to thrive through her children, Donald Buckley, Floyd Buckley, Jody Buckley, John "Christopher" Buckley, Amber Hall, Angelique Sanabria, and Maverick Hall; her siblings, Donald Murphy, Diane Murphy, Sheila Buckley, and Sharon McClelland; along with her adored nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and purpose to her life.
Her professional journey was as diverse as it was successful. Catheryn ran a catering business out of Houston before becoming a real estate agent. Her warm personality also led her to a fulfilling career in radio sales. Alongside her late husband Don, Catheryn owned Ranch Food Market in Groveton and Hawkeye Ranch in Hudson. She owned Truely Southwest, a store in Lufkin, Texas that specialized in selling unique native items and jewelry. Her final professional chapter was in hospitality until her retirement in 2021, to dedicate her time and energy to what she loved most: being "Mama Cat" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Catheryn was an avid traveler, and enjoyed exploring new places. However, her greatest pleasure was found in the simple moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She embraced her role as "Mama Cat" with an open heart and endless love.
Those who knew Catheryn will remember her for her unwavering positivity, her infectious laugh, and her kind and generous spirit. She was a beacon of light and always ready to lend a helping hand. Her presence was a comfort and her life, a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Catheryn's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. Her story is one of love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the cherished memories she leaves behind, and the profound impact she made on our lives.
Catheryn did not want those who loved her to mourn. So in lieu of services her life will be celebrated by family and friends in a Celebration of Life Gathering at 1313 Live Oak Lane, Lufkin, Texas, Saturday, June 22, 2024 beginning at 12:00 pm. Her spirit will be carried forward in the stories shared and the love passed down through the generations. She was a treasure to her family and a friend to all. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will resonate for years to come, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
