Paul was preceded in death by his parents Phyllis Lutz and Harold Puckett and brother Donald Puckett.

Paul is survived by his wife Debra Pegoda, daughter Jennifer and Douglas Heaton of Lufkin, daughter Tammy Pegoda of Trinity, granddaughters Hayley Pegoda, Kaitlyn Guardado, Kristina Guardado, Lilly Pegoda, Karley Heaton, Kenzee Heaton and Kennedy Heaton, sister Brenda and Phillip Pegoda of Trinity, Virgil Puckett of Maryland, Ricky Puckett of New Jersey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
