Paula Jean Sims Bowlin, born on June 7, 1956, in Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023, in Conroe, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be remembered for her gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Jimmy Orie Sims, Sr. her mother and father, Patsy Kay Wilkerson Bonner and Charles Wilkerson, and brother Alvin Wilkerson.
She is the cherished stepdaughter of Frances Wilkerson. Paula was a devoted wife to her husband, Bobby Bowlin, a caring mother to her children, Jimmy Sims and his husband, Bill Minak, Sandy Pope, Ashley Sims and husband Billy Ashabranner. Paula was also a doting grandmother to Bradley Pope, Brandon Pope, Isabele Hyatt, Tristian Hyatt, Starr Ashabranner, and a great-grandmother to Laikyn Florie and Laurel Florie. She is also survived by her siblings, Connie Beswick and her husband Robert, Travis "Bubba" Wilkerson, Sue Wilkerson Davis and her husband Lloyd, Sherry Dunn and her husband Tommy, Buddy Wilkerson and his wife Missy, Terry Cooper, Billy Cooper, Dee and Glenn. Her family was her world, and she treated every child she met as her own, a testament to her nurturing nature and boundless love.
Throughout her life, Paula was a dedicated homemaker who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for collecting roosters, a hobby that added a unique touch to her home and brought her immense joy. She was renowned for her baking skills, especially her sweet treats, which were always a hit at family gatherings. She had a love for sweet tea and cherished the moments she spent visiting with her family while enjoying a glass.
Paula had an affinity for the beach and often spent time there with her family and children whom she loved with all her heart and soul. She was also known for her long phone conversations with her children and sisters, she loved talking with her daughter Sandy, while away on business trips. She enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with her daughter Ashley laughing and having fun. She ended most days with a call from her son where she shared motherly advice, laughter, and love. Her gentle nature, coupled with her sense of humor, made her a joy to be around, and her presence would light up any room.
We remember Paula today not with sadness but with joy for having known such a remarkable woman. Her love, strength, and kindness were a beacon to all who knew her, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts. Paula Jean Sims Bowlin, a woman of love, laughter, and gentleness, will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
