Richard Rhudy

March 18, 1948 — October 2, 2024

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Richard Manes Rhudy, a beloved husband, father, friend, and child of God, who departed from this earth on October 2, 2024 at the age of 76 years. He has left a legacy of faith, love, strength, and good humor. He will be greatly missed and joyfully remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Born on March 3,1948, in Baltimore, Maryland to Regina Matthaei Rhudy and Charles Spurlock Rhudy, Dick was a man of quiet strength, virtuous character, immense kindness, and personal generosity. He had unwavering love for his family. Plainly said, Dick loved. He was peaceful, faithful, and all goodness throughout his life. He considered his life to be a journey from earth to Heaven and he traveled that journey well.

Married to his soulmate and beloved wife Jan for over 49 years, their marriage was a blessed bond which was truly made in Heaven. Their love was a wonderful example of devotion and partnership, and together they created many wonderful memories between the two of them as well as with their three devoted sons and many friends.

Dick is survived by his wife Jan Rhudy of Lufkin, TX; his brother Charles Spurlock Rhudy and his wite Janet Brown Rhudy of Fairfield, CT; his sister Elizabeth Rhudy Austin and her husband Gerhard Austin of Storrs, CT; his three wonderful sons: Christopher James Rhudy and his wite Jessica, of Henderson, TX; Daniel Matthaei Rhudy and his wife Jennifer of Mt Vernon, WA; Timothy Charles Rhudy and his wife Kyndele of Brandywine, MD. He is also survived by seven dear grandchildren: Adalee Anne and Owen Manes of Henderson, TX, Johannah Shenandoah and Jack Alan of Mt Vernon, WA, Kaylin Renee, Timothy Cooke, and Lottie Jane of Brandywine, MD, as well as numerous nieces and nephews across the country.

Although he will be greatly missed, all who have known and loved him will be comforted that he is now in Heaven with the Lord and that he will live on in our hearts and memories.
