Robert Guevara, born on September 7, 1953, in Polk County, has left this world on February 22, 2025, in Dickinson after a brief and brave fight with cancer. A cherished son, brother, and father, Robert’s life was characterized by his deep love for family and an enduring passion for writing, particularly poetry that beautifully captured his thoughts and experiences.

Robert graduated from Diboll High School, where his inquisitive nature and creative soul began to flourish. He spent countless hours journaling his reflections, ensuring that the stories of his life and family were never forgotten. His ability to articulate his feelings and experiences through the written word not only provided solace to himself but also served as an inspiration to those who knew him.

He is remembered by his family, including his daughter, Amanda Ricks, and her husband, Shawn Ricks. His sisters Angie Fenley, Virginia Garza, Linda Guevara and her husband Luis Rodriguez, Margaret Arvizu and her husband Martin Arvizu, along with brothers Richard Guevara and his wife Esther Guevara, and Reggie Guevara. As well as his sister-in-law Mary Lou Y'barra.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Amalia J. Guevara, and his siblings: Juan Y'barra and Rueben Guevara. Additionally, he mourned the loss of his brother-in-law, Tom Fenley.

As we remember Robert Guevara, we celebrate a man who cherished his family and found beauty in the world around him, capturing it through his poetry. His legacy will continue to live on through the memories shared by those who loved him.
