Robert Wayne Fisher

September 4, 1986 — May 18, 2023

Robert Wayne Fisher, affectionately known as Rob, Dad, Son, Love of My Life, and Bestest Friend/Brother in the Entire Universe, unexpectedly passed away on May 18, 2023, in Lufkin, Texas. Born in Southfield, Michigan, on September 4, 1986, he was 36 years young and had made the world a better and far more hilarious place in his time here.

Rob embodied joy and had a magnetic presence that drew people to him like moths to a comedic flame. He was a larger-than-life piece of human whose purpose on this earth was to make people feel beautiful, both inside and out… and he did just that, with his makeup brush and his scissors in hand, one bridal party, one client, and one friend at a time.

Friend to many and family to even more, Rob is survived by an eclectic entourage of loved ones, including his husband and mother-in-law, Joseph Fisher and Carroll Dickey; his sister and best friend in life, Erica Cook; his ex-wife, Danyell Moore, the co-parent of his children, Dakota, Gavin, and Cullen; his grandmother, Jill Devine; his parents, Randy and Wendy Fisher; his siblings Melissa, Thomas, Hannah, and Kai, along with their respective partners Rick, Olivia, and Zach; and his sister, Shelby Johnson.

Knowledge wasn't the only thing Rob had a passion for, but it certainly was one of them. A lifelong learner, Rob devoured books and film with an insatiable curiosity. In the classroom or at the kitchen table, he was always eager to absorb, discuss, and debate the universe's secrets with anyone willing to lend an ear.

Rob's professional life was just as colorful and varied as his personal one, which is to say, completely and utterly unique. He held a variety of positions as a stylist and was responsible for making hundreds of nervous brides utterly gorgeous on their special days, all while steadfastly refusing to minimize himself for anyone. He was a trailblazer, an iconoclast, and an unforgettable presence wherever he went.

In his spare time, Rob serenaded the world with his damn good karaoke voice and unleashed his boundless creativity through his paintings, which brought him pure satisfaction. And let's not forget his daily tales of adventure, filled with funnies that only those who really knew him could appreciate, his humor and joke-telling are irreplaceable.

Funny, creative, passionate, kind, and loyal - these are just a few of the words that best describe Rob, though this list barely scratches the surface of what he brought to the world. Those who knew him, even briefly, will remember his generosity, sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality with a bittersweet mixture of laughter and tears.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Clara Fisher, who are surely laughing along with him somewhere in the afterlife, perhaps sharing a joke or two about the absurdity of it all.

Not one for somber goodbyes or tearful farewells, Rob would likely want all those mourning his passing to remember the good times and raise a toast to a life well-lived. So, let's celebrate Rob's life with the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love we hold for one another. This is just the way he would have wanted it.

Here's to you, Robert Wayne Fisher - YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND . As long as we remember you, you shall never truly be gone. May you continue to sing with the stars.
