Samuel Edward Herod(best known as Sammy) a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on January 7, 2025, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Born on November 19, 1957, in Houston County, Texas, Sammy was known for his unwavering dedication to family and his tireless work ethic that inspired all who knew him.
Sammy's life revolved around the love he had for his wife of 47 years, Eyvonne Herod. He took immense pride in being a father to Sam Herod and Jason Herod. His sons were not just children to him; they were his greatest achievements. Sammy cherished every moment spent with them and welcomed their wives into the family as daughters—Tamara and Leslie became integral parts of his life.
As a devoted brother to Darryl Herod and sisters Brandy Herod and Jackie Pennock, Sammy fostered deep connections within his family that will endure beyond this earthly realm. He often shared stories from their childhoods that brought smiles to faces during gatherings—a testament to the bond they shared.
Sammy was preceded in death by his wonderful parents Sam G Herod and Emily Herod.
Sammy’s legacy continues through his five grandchildren: Corey Ballard; Connor Herod; Griffin Herod; Kinlee Herod; and Scarlett Herod. To them he was more than just “G-pa”; he was one of their biggest supporter—always present at school events or cheering them on from the sidelines during sports games.
A hard-working man by nature who believed in providing for those he loved most dearly—Sammy dedicated himself fully to every endeavor he undertook throughout life while never losing sight of what mattered most: family unity above all else.
