Sharon Denise "Sheri" Brooks

Sharon Denise "Sheri" Brooks, née Lawson, was born on September 3rd, 1962 in Lufkin, Texas, and passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2024, at the age of 62 in Lufkin, Texas. Sheri was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.Sheri attended Hudson High School and furthered her education at Angelina College. She founded a daycare with her sister Karen, nurturing countless young lives. Sheri also dedicated part of her career to working at Central ISD, until health challenges necessitated her retirement.In her personal life, Sheri was united in marriage to Stacey Brooks in 1994, and the two shared a life filled with love and companionship. She was the proud mother of a daughter, Morgan Milstead, born in 1996. Sheri cherished her role as a grandmother to Ivan Milstead, Adalyn Jones, and Penelope Brooks. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.Sheri's passions extended beyond her family, though. She found joy in the great outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and beach trips. She was also an avid fan of word puzzles, cards, 42 and Wahoo.Sheri is survived by her devoted husband, Stacey Brooks; mother, Bonnie Jean Lawson; daughter, Morgan Milstead; stepchildren, Casey Brooks and Amber Jones and husband Leslie; her siblings, Darlene McKneely, Phillip Lawson and wife Oralia, David Lawson and wife Bettye, and Karen Pinner and husband Jeff. She also leaves behind numerous cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Delmar Lawson, and uncle Jerry Lawson.A service to honor Sheri's life will be held at McNutt Funeral Home, 400 S. First St., Lufkin, Texas.Sheri's warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
