Virgil Don Way

Virgil Don Way of Lufkin, Texas, passed away May 3, 2023, at the age of 68. He was born on June 14, 1954, in Big Spring, Texas. He was raised by his loving parents, Woodson L. and Mattie Barnett McEwen.

Virgil married Charlotte Elaine Howard on August 11, 1976, they have lived a blessed life together having six children. Virgil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He adored his family and always made sure they were taken care of. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories that will last in our hearts forever.

Professionally, Virgil worked in the oil field for most of his career. He was highly regarded for his dedicated work ethic, attention to detail and meticulousness. He was a man of integrity and always went above and beyond to ensure that his work was done with the utmost care and precision. His colleagues undeniably valued and respected him.

Virgil will be missed by everyone who knew him. He had a kind and gentle soul that touched the lives of many. He was always quick to lend a hand or offer a kind word to anyone in need. He had a passion for life which he lived to the fullest, enjoying the simple pleasures that made him happy. Fishing and having family barbeques, riding his Harley and camping with his family were some of his favorite pastimes.

Virgil is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Way; his mother, Mattie Barnett McEwen his stepfather, Woodson Loyal McEwen, brothers; Larry Gail Way, Ricky Way and his daughter, Robbie McEwen.

He leaves behind his wife, Charlotte Elaine Way, children; Ricky McEwen and wife Yuri, Tracy McEwen Way, Larry Way and wife Jamie, Mistie Bolton and husband DJ Davis, Shyann Bouton and husband Pete, siblings; Terry Way and wife Pat, Danny Way and wife Edith, Vickie Helms and husband Daryl, Jimmy McEwen and wife Kelly and Wayne and Melody Bramley. He is also survived by his 12 beloved grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Visitation hours will be 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday May 5, 2023 at the McNutt Funeral Home located at 400 S. First St. Lufkin Texas 75901. Graveside Services will be 10:00 AM Sunday May 7, 2023 in the Douglass Cemetery, Douglass, Texas. Pastor Tom Campbell officiating.
