Wayne Alan Cox, age 73, passed away, on February 15, 2022 at his home, Nacogdoches, TX. Wayne is survived by Cindy, his wife of 34 years; his beloved sons Mike McAuley, Sean McAuley, and daughter, Annie Haynes. He is survived by his grandchildren; Christianna McAuley, Joshua McAuley, Marley McAuley, Amethyst Haynes, Mica Haynes, and Xander Haynes. He is survived by one sister, Georgia Gillette, of ME and two nephews; Bill and Kevin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Arline Cox, of CA; his brother Dennis Cox, of CO and his beloved son Scott McAuley, of Nacogdoches. Wayne was born on Oct 6, 1948, Hamilton AFB, CA, to parents French O’Neil Cox and Arline Margaret (Quain) Cox. Wayne graduated from Charter Oaks HS in Covina, CA. and enlisted in the USAF in 1967, serving proudly for 20 years. After retiring from the service, Wayne worked at the VA Loma Linda, CA as an electronic technician for more than 21 years. Wayne was a devoted husband, great family man and a loving father. All his grandchildren loved their Papa. He enjoyed golfing, baseball, zoos, and karaoke. He loved to watch movies, computer gaming, and listening to music. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind, generous, and caring person. A Memorial with Military Honors is scheduled for Saturday, February 26th, at 11:00 AM at Vineyard Church of Nacogdoches, 4140 FM 1878, Nacogdoches, TX 75961 - Phil Novak will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Wayne’s life. Should friends desire, donations may be made in Wayne’s honor to The Vineyard Church of Nacogdoches or Ellen Trout Zoo, Lufkin, Texas.
