William Ronald “Big R” Bynum, Sr. born May 11, 1941 to parents; William Dodger Bynum, Jr. and Helen Maurine (Hinson) Bynum in Lufkin, Texas.
He graduated from Central ISD in 1959. After graduation he joined the US Army as a Military Police officer at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. After leaving the military he worked as a maintenance man for Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas. Ronnie later drove a delivery truck for East Texas Oxygen & Acetylene (ETOX) Company. After moving back to Lufkin, he became a train engineer for the Southern Pacific Railroad driving the Lufkin to Beaumont and Shreveport routes.
He is survived by his wife Linda Conner Bynum of 61 years. His children: Johna Bynum, Brent and Crystal Bynum, Clark and Charlotte Bynum, Leah and Michelle Bynum, William “Lil Ronnie” Bynum Jr and friend Tina Montes. 21 Grandchildren; Paul William and Lisa Bynum, James Michael and Amanda Bynum, Jerry Bynum and girlfriend Charlotte Jones, Shelby Torres, Annabell Rhame, Aiden Rhame, Carson Bynum, Carli Bynum, Bridgette Evans, Bradley and Shawnta Bynum, Alston Bynum, Kayleigh and Brad Flippen, Megan King, Caleb Bynum, Megan Tarie Bynum, Jamye Bynum, Jacob Bynum, Trevor Bynum, Genness Gordon, Jay’lil Franklyn, Chris Cole and 23 great-grandchildren. His sister-in-law, Elizabeth Yancey and brother-in-law, James Earl Cox.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister, Linda Bynum Cox, brother-in-law, Richard Earl Yancey and twin grandchildren: William Jeffery Bynum and Jessica Hope Bynum.
